Lorcan is a Theoretical Quantum Optics Postdoctoral Fellow working with Alexey Gorshkov. He is primarily interested in quantum metrology, determining fundamental limits on how accurately we can measure any physical quantity. He is also interested in how quantum metrology can be used in other fields, and how techniques from quantum computing can be used to enhance quantum sensing protocols. Lorcan obtained his PhD at the Australian National University under the supervision of Prof. Ping Koy Lam, and held a joint position between the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR) Singapore, and the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) before joining QuICS.
