About
QuICS Bio

Lucas Kocia was a NIST NRC Postdoctoral Associate at QuICS from 2017-2019 working on complexity theory using algebras with associated (discrete) symplectic phase spaces. His research interests lie in connecting semiclassics and path integral expansions in terms of Planck's constant with the computational complexity of problems. This involves topics such as the Wigner-Weyl-Moyal formalism, discrete Wigner functions, van Vleck propagation, stoquastic Hamiltonians, Clifford operations and quantum contextuality. Lucas received his doctorate in chemical physics from Harvard University in 2016.  Lucas is a postdoc at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA.
