Quantum Leap Career Nexus

The 2025 Quantum Leap Career Nexus

Tuesday, October 28, 2025  at the University of Maryland

The Quantum Leap Career Nexus (QLCN) is a premier, global networking, recruitment, and mentorship workshop for careers in the quantum industry. We bring quantum organizations together to meet with undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and early career professionals.

Quantum algorithm for linear non-unitary dynamics with near-optimal dependence on all parameters

This presentation introduces a family of identities that express general linear non-unitary evolution operators as a linear combination of unitary evolution operators, each solving a Hamiltonian simulation problem. This formulation can exponentially enhance the accuracy of the recently introduced linear combination of Hamiltonian simulation (LCHS) method [An, Liu, and Lin, Physical Review Letters, 2023].

Performance bounds for autonomous quantum error correction

Noise is widely regarded as a major obstacle to quantum computing. Fortunately, this problem can be solved efficiently due to the existence of the threshold theorem. It states that under sufficiently weak noise and universal assumptions, there always exists an active quantum error correction protocol with only logarithmic hardware overhead. One may ask: can a similar result be obtained for autonomous (passive) error correction, where noise is suppressed by natural or engineered dissipation?

Graduate/Postdoc

Summer School

The RQS Summer School is an annual event featuring lectures and collaborative workshops structured to provide PhD students and postdocs working in a quantum field with a strong overview of quantum simulation. The academic and social program of the Summer School is designed by the RQS Student-Postdoc Council.

Workforce Development

RQS is working to bring more students into the quantum workforce by supporting intensive, student-led inquiry into quantum science and providing novel avenues for collaboration and learning. In addition to the educational mission of our Institute, we also directly facilitate career development for students entering the quantum workforce through a variety of programs:

Research Partners

Partners in academia, government, and industry engage with RQS on the interdisciplinary challenges of practical and verifiable quantum simulation. Working together and building on complementary strengths, our network helps identify new quantum applications, enable pre-competitive translation, and facilitate building a quantum-capable workforce.
