Coming from the academic environment of graduate school, it is hard to guess what a career in industry might be like. Though every industry and company may be a little different, I will share both a general perspective on a career in industry, provide some personal anecdotes from my experience, and answer your questions.
Bio: Jenni was an NRC postdoc at NIST-Gaithersburg from 2005 – 2007. After NIST, Jenni started working at Honeywell as a scientist in their Aerospace Advanced Technology team, developing technology for position, navigation, and timing. Fourteen years later, Jenni still works at Honeywell but has since performed in a variety of roles and functions including technology management, engineering operations, offering and product management, and recently took on a new role as Chief Product Officer for Honeywell Quantum Solutions. Prior to NIST, Jenni got her Ph.D in atomic physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
