The meeting of the American Physical Society’s Division of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics (DAMOP) will take place in Quebec June 3-7, 2013. The following is a summary of the presentations being made by scientists of the Joint Quantum Institute (*).
Please take note of session H7 is devoted to the DAMOP Thesis Prize. Karina Jimenez-Garcia, who did her thesis work at JQI with Ian Spielman and is now a postdoc at the University of Chicago: http://meeting.aps.org/Meeting/DAMOP13/Event/194287. JQI’s Michael Foss-Feig is also one of the contenders: http://meeting.aps.org/Meeting/DAMOP13/Event/194288. He did his thesis work at JILA with Ana Maria Rey. Interestingly, Ana Maria Rey received the thesis prize for her doctoral work, done at UMD. Both Foss-Feig and Jimenez-Garcia will give invited papers.
