Together with colleagues from UCSB, Nexus Photonics, and Peking University, we have written a review article in Nature Photonics describing advances in chip-integrated, high-performance lasers in the visible and short near-infrared, spanning a range of wavelengths from 400 nm to 1000 nm. This spectral range is particularly relevant for applications in quantum information science and technology. Our review covers approaches to gain medium integration, low-loss cavities and material platforms, and nonlinear photonics for extending the range of accessible wavelengths.
